Imaginations running wild

So yesterday we made the drive from Southern California to Northern California (again!!)  We're here so Amara can participate in her end of year dance recital, and also to attend Anna and Jonathan's wedding.  It should be a fun week.  Anyway, the kids gave us an interesting look into the strange workings of their minds yesterday on the long drive.

Amara: Grandma, we're even luckier than you because we have two babies in our family, and you just had one.  Maybe we'll have even more.  Maybe a hundred, or even a thousand!

I think a thousand babies in a family might be pushing that luck just a little.  We spent a few of our hours talking about how life would be with a thousand babies - buses for trips to the grocery store, 500 pizzas for dinner, you get the idea.  Amara  had the giggles all afternoon and shared her dinner with the many babies at the restaurant.

Ethan:  We have a flying motorcycle.  We do.  Its at grandma and grandpas.  We climb on and buckle up so we won't fall off.  We wear our helmets and push a button and there's a steering wheel.  There are two seats for me and Amara.  There are more seats inside the motorcycle for when you want fly with us.  I'll show you the motorcycle when we get there.

He actually continued the charade this morning by looking for the motorcycle in closets and various rooms before proclaiming that we'd have to go to a store called Nosey to buy a new flying motorcycle.  Wow.  Amara's always been imaginative, but she didn't make up so many wild stories and try to play them off on us.  I only wish I could explain the expressions on his face and inflections in his voice when he tells us these things.

Ethan also informed us the other night that there's an animal called a Goost.  Its green, small and has a nose that's as tall as the ceiling.  Ours is named Soup.  Soup the Goost.  It also eats sharks, but its nice.  All goosts are nice.  Lately, Ethan tries to ascertain the niceness of every creature.  "Are ladybugs nice?  Is lions nice?  Some lions are nice."  Nope, they'll all try to eat you.
