The Big Screen

The release of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix motivated me to find a way to get to the movie theater. It is just not easy to leave little Ethan, because he looks for me the whole time and requires a lot of attention and distracting the whole time I'm gone - and that's with daddy. A sitter's not really an option. So.... I found a drive-in in a small town nearby. We headed over in the evening, folded down the seats in the minivan (love love love the minivan), put the rear bench down into the trunk for tailgate seating, made a bed for Amara in the van and waited for her to fall asleep. And waited.... We talked all about this before, and she agreed to try to sleep so she wouldn't be scared. She was a little curious though and was still awake when the movie started. It worked out though and she fell asleep pretty soon after that. Ethan zoned out pretty early in the movie and slept through... the weather was nice. Actually, there was lightning in the distance and fireflies nearby which were cool. And I really enjoyed the movie. A lot. Can't wait for the book. In fact, I think the last movie I saw on the big screen was the last Harry Potter when Ethan was about 5 days old. He came then, too and slept through the whole time.

Kristina...what a fantastic idea. I'm going to look for a drive-in near our house.
