Campout

I've been wanting to go camping all summer, but we haven't gotten around to it. A backyard campout was deemed an acceptable alternative, so we barbecued, slept outside, and read by flashlight. Actually, it was pretty nice to still have running water and plenty of snacks and a refrigerator nearby.

The kids sure enjoyed the tent. The big hit of the evening was the "Dadey Door." I have yet to determine how Dadey became Ethan's new nickname, but it is. The tent has a doggie door!
Since we're dogless, Ethan filled in as the resident dog. It seemed like the natural extention of Ethan's recent penchant for scouring the kitchen floor after meal time for snacks. He peeked through this doggie door on the tent repeatedly, inspiring giggles and craziness. Fortunately, the tent survived both kids squealing and trying to squeeze through the Dadey Door all morning!
And here's my sweetie waiting for breakfast, which was cooked on the grill!
