Swim Lessons

How did I forget to post about this? Amara recently took swim lessons! She's been water wary (at least about water on her face) forever, but we finally decided that she's old enough to give it a try anyway.  And.... she did great. The lessons were pretty low key. They played lots of games and basically just spent some time getting wet and playing, and practicing a few strokes with a kickboard or the teachers help.They played ring around the rosies a lot.
And practiced getting in and out of the pool.
The really amazing part was on the first day when Amara put her head under water to retrieve a ring! Way to go, girl!
She's still not one of those kids that just dunks and doesn't think anything of it. There's a lot of eye rubbing needed to be functional in the dry world again. But, I'm just so excited that she's not afraid to go under anymore! Now she just needs to put in some more time at the pool so she can get really comfortable.
