Possession

Ethan has become obsessed with who possesses every item in the house. I'm actually a bit surprised that he gets the concept, but he definitely gets it. We've had a few shouts of “mine!”, but its mostly just commentary about what belongs to who. Aya's (Amara's), Momma's, Dadda's, etc. The funny thing is that Ethan has been very resistant to saying his own name. When something is his, he says, “Baby's,” and he refuses to say Ethan (well, he's said it a couple times now, but its a recent development). We'd try to get him to say “Ethan's” but he'd completely change the subject! Can babies do that?! If he doesn't change the subject, he'll say “Baby's”, or sometimes “Dadey's” (which is the very random nickname Amara gave him last summer and only uses on occasion). He's become pretty insistent about which things belong to certain people, sometimes claiming particularly cool items for himself, and other times insisting that grandpa sit in a particular chair. Yikes.

Alan's exhibited that kind of behavior for years now, so I've been expecting something like this.
